A photo taken nine years and ten days ago, on December 18, 2014. I don't exactly don't know where but I am going to take a wild guess and say Prospect Lake, since it's near my house and home to many waterfowl.

I realize I've been serving up variations of this mountain all week, but I never get sick of this view. Would you? I'm so lucky to call this city my home! Here's Pikes Peak over Prospect Lake at sunset on September 23, 2014.

Some ducks enjoying a summer day at Prospect Lake on August 16, 2020. At least it seems like they're enjoying it, though clearly there must have been a big wildfire burning somewhere in the American west when I took this. Look at that yellowy haze hanging over the mountains. That can only mean one thing.

Warm Weather Waterfowl
I took this picture on August 16th, when wildfires raging all over the west cast a hazy pall over the entire state, it seemed.

On January 3rd we were treated to a particularly spectacular sunset, so on the spur of the moment Pat and I raced over to Prospect Lake in time to catch the tail end of the display. For some reason all the great color was over Cheyenne Mountain rather than Pikes Peak. Regardless, it was beautiful and worth freezing for a few minutes to get the shot!

A Flock of Seagulls
I always do a double take when I spot seagulls around here, given their strong association with saltier bodies of water, but you can usually find them hanging out at Prospect Lake. I shouldn't be so surprised. They are, after all, waterfowl, and Prospect Lake is, after all, a lake. It's kind of nice to see them. It makes this landlocked person yearn for the beach!

Water Walkers
Prospect Lake is starting to ice over, and the resident geese now look as if they can walk on water.

More silhouetted waterfowl to go with yesterday's post. You can see how hazy the skies are. I took this picture on the 16th and things haven't changed much since then.

Pat and I hit up Prospect Lake on the evening of August 16th in hopes of getting a good sunset photo. With all the wildfires in Colorado these last couple of weeks, the only real upside has been the dramatic skies as the sun dips behind the mountains each night. Unfortunately this night the sunset was a dud (I guess it was too hazy), but the light was very dramatic anyway and I got some nice pictures of the geese and ducks doing their thing.

Prospect Lake in Summer
If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen the teaser that I posted directly after the photo shoot. We had fun!

I did get outside with a camera today (it was so nice out!) as I needed to do some location scouting for a shoot this weekend, but with no time this evening to fiddle with those pictures I grabbed this one from my archives. It was taken on November 28th of last year, really just a few weeks ago. That's Prospect Lake in the foreground. Pretty!
