Pat noticed this oddity when we stopped briefly in Penrose the other day. "Biker Town" is evidently a bar. I'm just bemused by the sight of a large fake palm tree in the middle of a field in Penrose, Colorado.
ETA 04/07/10: See comments -- according to the link provided by regular reader Ansel, Biker Town is a store that caters to motorcycle enthusiasts. Thanks for the link and the clarification, Ansel!

Pull in and Talk to the Biker Town folks.
Or read this nice article about the Palms of Colorado.

Love your photos, wish I could stop cutting people's heads off. I check in every day (or so).
Love the fake palm tree! It's perfect! I also think you should pull in and talk to the folks there - who knows what stories you will hear!
I didn't realize it was a fake until I read your post!
A ha! Thanks for the link Ansel! That explains everything :o)
Biker Town is not a bar. Biker Town does NOT sell any alcohol, never did. Why did you jump to that conclusion?
Anonymous, I didn't assume it was a bar. Someone actually told me it was a bar. Apparently they were wrong! Please take the time to read the complete post, including the edit added on 4/07 where I mention that Biker Town is not a bar, it's a retail store that caters to biking enthusiasts. It's all right there in the body of the post.
Also, please read the comments above. The first comment (by Ansel) provides a link to an article about Biker Town, and also see my comment thanking Ansel for the link.
I do try to keep this blog 100% positive, so if anyone has any issues with what I am posting, rather than posting comments about it here please feel free to contact me personally (see my website address at right; contact info can be found there).
