Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Roller derby night

Earlier tonight there was a double header at the City Auditorium: our league (the Pikes Peak Derby Dames) versus Tucson (inexplicably called the Silicon Valley Roller Girls -- isn't Silicon Valley in southern California???). I missed most of the first bout because of work. The second bout featured the "B squads" from each league, seen here, and I'm afraid our girls had a bad time of it! The Slamazons were pretty much getting creamed by the KillaBytes when we left halfway through, and I doubt they made up the deficit by the end of the bout. Too bad! But there's always next time, girls! I'm still a loyal fan!

Hi! Glad to have you as a loyal fan. :) Just wanted to say, Silicon Valley Roller Girls are from California. Our next bout on June 18th is the one against Tucson. Sorry for the confusion!

The All Stars recently played Silicon Valley at a tournament in Tucson, and the announcers were talking about that. So that may be where the confusion came from.

I think we'll start putting the city the visiting leagues are from on the posters and/or programs (when it's not obvious).

I still do not get the rules or the scoring, having seen perhaps 10 hours of roller derby here in Yorkshire, courtesy of our very own Leeds Roller Girls. That said I think its great, colourful fun. I suspect my problem may be due to spending too much time looking through my camera.
