Theme day: heights
The first of the month is Theme Day for City Daily Photo bloggers! It's been a couple of months since I've participated, and I must confess I didn't actually know what today's theme was until after I took this picture yesterday. How very convenient that this month's theme is heights! I just thought it was a nice day to take a picture of Pikes Peak from the overlook on Mesa, but as it turns out, this shot fits the bill quite nicely. We don't really have any tall buildings in Colorado Springs, thus no particularly great vantage point to illustrate "heights", but at 14,110 feet above sea level, Pikes Peak is the indisputably mightiest, height-iest thing around! This is one of the most gorgeous views in our city. The large red rock formation in the foreground is part of the Garden of the Gods, and this particular formation is called Kissing Camels. Can you see why?

Awesome mountainous view!
What a rock! Wonderful nature and brilliant photo!
love that red in the rock, but i don't see the kissing camels :(
Great view! I think your picture wins the height theme!
That is breathtaking... makes me want to be back in the mountains again!
Beautiful!
I see Pikes Peak is showing some white. I live in Breckenridge and it's been snowing hard all day. Great to see the red rocks of Garden of the Gods - a place I enjoy visiting.
I do so love Colorado...you are reminding me why. Lovely shot.
Interesting and really striking contribution to the theme day.Have a good weekend!
