Instead of sticking around for the fireworks at Memorial Park, yesterday Pat and I headed for the hills, ending up at Turquoise Lake outside Leadville. It's about 150 miles away and quite a beautiful drive. Turquoise Lake is one of those pristine recreation areas that no one seems to know about. There were a few campers to be found, and one lone guy fishing. If you look closely at the photo below, you'll see he's bringing in a trout. Good for him!

Not so good for the trout!
Good to see snow on the mountains at this time of year....but I've rarely been in those mountains in the summer, so maybe it's usual. My visits were mostly in April or October. I get the Victor-Cripple Creek area mixed up in my mind with Leadville. I think I always liked the former better, but it's all been a long time ago. Lovely that you live where you can go see these places often...and as usual, thanks again for your photos.
