Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Sexy Beast

Check out this awesome spider that I found on our house yesterday. Yikes! It was about one and a quarter inches, including its leg span. Pretty impressive. I'm not arachnophobic and don't have that "kill it!" knee jerk reaction to spiders, so I left it in peace. Even so, it's not like I'd want it crawling on me -- this thing was huge! I did a little research to see if I could identify it, but no luck. My best guess is it's some kind of orb weaver.

I feel the same about spiders - they seem magical to me! We were just in the Springs to visit my mom - drove from Maryland for the first time ever. We saw some magnificent spider webs at the Hopewell Cultural Center (ancient Native American site) in Ohio. Maryland Katie

Yeah, it's just one of those harmless ones that show up big time in late summer, early fall. Serious weavers. I'm glad you didn't squash it. Especially if you have mosquitoes. Clear crisp photo that should go into a spider field guide!
