Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

And Now, for Something Completely Different

In a stark contrast to Pat's motorcycle pictures that I've been posting all week, here are some vintage toys. Today I went shopping at the antique mall on Academy Boulevard that long ago housed Weberg Furniture (only us Colorado Springs old timers will remember it). I was on the hunt for a 1960s Danish modern dining table, or maybe another Formica table, because I'm redoing the living and dining rooms in my house. I found both, but the Danish modern one was too big and kind of ugly (ha!), and the Formica one was more of a small kitchen table than a dining table. Besides, I've owned a nice red Formica table for decades; it's currently in service as a desk, but hopefully it'll be converted back to my sewing table soon.

So! Since I was disappointed in my hunt for the right dining table, I conservatively added to my collection of midcentury era goodies instead:  a pair of sparkly ear climber clip-on earrings, a little black dress, and a handful early 1960s sewing patterns. I have been a collector of vintage clothing, accessories, kitchenware and other odds and ends since I was a teenager, and I find it very difficult not to buy everything in sight when I go to a place like this. I feel like I did a good job of holding back today! Tomorrow I'll resume the hunt for a dining table.

Oh dear. Those kitchen appliances look a lot older than me. By the look, I'm dating them at the late '40's. But those were probably relatively expensive toys at the time for a little girl, so I might not have encountered them.
I do remember coveting a to me, big, Texaco filling station with repair rooms, etc which I coveted, even though not very girly, that a neighbor's boy had. Your husband might enjoy it. Ha.
