A few more pictures from our afternoon of birding at Barr Lake State Park near Brighton. It's pretty there, a compelling reason to visit even if you're not interested in wildlife. For some reason many of the trees are missing bark, which makes for a stark white appearance against the blue sky in the absence of leaves, almost like bones. Tomorrow I'll show you a better picture that I managed to capture of a lone eagle soaring almost directly above us.
Very interesting teardrop shaped nests. I don't know if they were occupied.
