Sunday Style!

On Tuesday night we went to see Ringo Starr and His All Star Band, which was a ton of fun (and for me, a lifelong dream realized -- I have now seen two Beatles!). We had the best time and so did everyone else. A few fans even dressed the part, like these guys in Sgt. Pepper "uniforms." Note the Yellow Submarine shoes, too. Fun!

I went to Denver a couple of weeks ago with my friend JB, to attend an art opening for one of her friends at a funky place called the Art Garage. I grabbed this shot of some random peonies near the door as it poured rain outside. I just liked how nicely the pink of the flowers contrasted with the green of the chalkboard. It almost looked like a painting.

This man was GIGANTIC. With the helmet he was well over seven feet tall. People were gaping in awe as he passed. I can't think of a more appropriate costume for him -- just perfect.

Denver Comic Con (Part 3)

Just a few more fun costumes from Comic Con last weekend. I had planned on blogging ten pictures today like I did the last couple of days, but I'm too busy! So I'll share five now and the last five of them tomorrow.

If you're a fan of the show Parks and Recreation, you'll get a laugh out of this. We love Parks and Rec! We wanted to buy this but of course it was sold out. Too bad!

Denver Comic Con (Part 2)

We thought this guy was the best of the many Deadpools we saw. He even had a unicorn.

This was hands down our favorite costume! Bob Ross! I love it!

One thing I learned about Comic Con is that not only will people gladly agree to be photographed, they'll immediately go into character and strike a pose.

The Manassa Mauler

Did you know that Jack Dempsey was a native Coloradoan? I didn't! I knew that he was called the Manassa Mauler, but I never made the connection to tiny Manassa, Colorado, which is in the southern part of the state. He is of course widely known as a pugilist, but he was also a lifelong philanthropist and stand up guy, which I think deserves to be said. I found this mural in Denver (see yesterday's post), near the Convention Center. That horse's head you see to the left of Dempsey belongs to Teddy Roosevelt. You'll have to tune in tomorrow for that.

"I See What You Mean" (Denver Convention Center, Part 3)

This 40-foot high sculpture of a bear peeking into the Denver Convention Center is entitled I See What You Mean. I don't know how something so huge manages to be so whimsical! It's a real Denver landmark, and I look for it every time I drive by the convention center. It always makes me smile.

The Denver Convention Center

A dramatic shot looking straight up at the roofline of the Denver Convention Center last weekend. It's an enormous facility that includes the Center for the Performing Arts, and this photo shows only a very small fraction of it. I've attended a number of events there, and every time I get a little lost! I'd really love to do a fashion shoot there. It's just so cool.

Last night my friend Jenn and I went to see the musical Young Frankenstein at the Buell Theatre in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. It was a great show, I highly recommend it! (For my readers in the area, the show will continue through the end of the month so pick up some tickets and go see it!) Our seats were way up in the very top tier. During the intermission I grabbed this image of theatergoers on the mezzanine and bottom floor queueing up for refreshments. The Center for the Performing Arts is a great place to see a show or concert, and it's also just plain neato ;-)

Many warm congratulations to our friend Jaime, who earned a much coveted seat in the orchestra for the show, playing five instruments! She's very talented. And Jaime, thanks again for the tickets, we had a blast.
