Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Meh.

A meh picture of a pretty subject. Consider this a test shot while I was on a shoot in Palmer Park a couple of weekends ago. By the way, about sixty seconds after I took this, a cactus spine pierced my shoe and embedded itself in my big toe! Fun times.

The Guy with the Horse

Every now and then I see this guy walking or riding his palomino across Academy Boulevard at Maizeland Road. I frequent that particular intersection because my studio is half a block north of this spot. There is a small pocket of unincorporated city nearby, which is weird but kind of cool too, since unincorporated areas are zoned for horses. I cannot describe for you how busy this intersection is -- with the turn lanes it's 9 or 10 lanes across. However, the horse is always completely unfazed by all the traffic and noise. No doubt they were headed to Palmer Park (directly behind me) for a ride. On the other end of the park there are stables, by the way. Colorado Springs may be perpetually expanding, but we still retain our western and horsey roots.

This picture is a little soft because I was shooting it through the bottom part of my car windshield. The curve of the glass made it impossible for me to get a sharp photo but I was just glad to get something. Whenever I see this guy and his horse, I never seem to have a camera handy, so blurry or not, this was a win!

Discussing Strategy

Today was on the warm and sunny side, which means the LARPing crowd was in their usual Saturday spot doing battle in Palmer Park. I've posted about them before (HERE). Palmer Park is around the corner from my studio and I love to see them out there doing their thing.

No blog post yesterday, I was too zonked out after getting three vaccines: Covid, shingles and flu. I was feeling pretty rotten as a result. Today was a little better, although I'm still not 100%. Here's another snap from the overlook in Palmer Park. There's lots of nice snow on the mountain now.

A little Palmer Park goodness from November 13th. Nice view!

In Living Color

October 23, 2021 was a particularly colorful day in Palmer Park.

Play Date in the Snow

Looking 90 degrees north from yesterday's photo, this woman and her dog had Palmer Park all to themselves and took the opportunity to play a game of Frisbee in the snow. The dog was overjoyed, and so was the dog's mistress. They looked like they were having so much fun!

A snowy scene in Palmer Park yesterday. We had fluffy flakes coming down all day on Saturday, and even though the sun came out on Sunday, it never warmed up enough to defrost the trees. So pretty.

Mid-Mod Awesomeness

This is the coolest midcentury modern house in the whole city, which is saying a lot. I discovered it several years ago and it was love at first sight. A little internet sleuthing tells me it was built in 1963. Check out the Asian influence in the roofline -- so cool! You can find this beauty a little beyond the bottom end of Palmer Park on Paseo Road, north of the golf course. I love this house!

A Good Day!

Today was my birthday! The weather was mild and sunny, which I appreciated since it's often cold on my birthday. And although I kept quite busy, I managed to squeeze in a quick five minute detour into Palmer Park, where I photographed this lovely view. Not a bad birthday present from Mother Nature!

Steady On

Yesterday afternoon I took a quick detour through Palmer Park on the way to my studio, in hopes of finding something worthwhile for the blog. I came across these two on horseback and managed to get a quick snap as they made their way past the dog park. As you can see, that white dog was very excited to see them. The horses, on the other hand, completely ignored the dog.

Another day, another senior portrait session in a park -- Palmer Park, that is. I was there both yesterday and today for the same reason. This was taken yesterday, and what a pretty day it was!

Atmospheric

Cheyenne Mountain on November 3, 2018. I'm not sure what my vantage point was for this shot, but I'm guessing it was the highest point in Palmer Park, the Grand View Overlook.

I had a few minutes to kill before a chiropractor appointment this morning, so I popped into Palmer Park and snapped off a few frames. It's pretty there this time of year. It's pretty there any time of year.

A wider view of the cave that I mentioned in Saturday's post. It might be a bit of a hike to get up there but I think I'll have to try it this summer, I'm dying to explore that little cave.

Cave, Man

There's a cave in the bluffs above Palmer Park, I've just noticed! I don't think it's very deep but it may be fun to explore it some time.

A final pretty moment from Palmer Park last Saturday, before I move on to other subject matter. I guess we're about to get several inches of snow in the next couple of days. Quite a change from the sunny and unseasonably warm weather we've been enjoying lately.

Random Rocks

More from my brief pass through Palmer Park on Saturday. This parking lot has a picnic table or two right next to it, and I found this random selection of rocks sitting on one of the benches. Don't ask me, I have no idea!

I had multiple little errands to run today, so I mixed in a quick drive through Palmer Park just for fun. It sure was a nice day! I grabbed this shot for you while I was there.
