Spotted outside my dentist's office a few days ago, this car had some funny bumpers stickers on it but this one was the funniest. The intended audience? I think you know who you are, even if you don't want to admit it.

Bumper sticker du jour
Okay this really isn't a bumper sticker so much as it is bumper graffiti, but I think it qualifies. My mom and I saw this truck today while we were out shopping. I know the bright reflection makes it difficult to read, so I'll transcribe it for you: "OK please don't tailgate 😊 Be Neighborly." Gotta love the polite request and the smiley face! Also, you can't see it in this picture but there was a bumper sticker on the bottom right that said "Arms are for hugging." Not to stereotype, but I'd say that on balance when you see a big GMC pickup around here, the bumper stickers can be a little less friendly. This was a refreshing change of pace.
Hope you had a great day, readers! For those who celebrate it, Happy Hanukkah!

Compleat Games and Hobbies
Here's Pat peering into the window of Compleat Games and Hobbies on Tejon Street earlier tonight. The reason we didn't go inside was that once you enter their doors, it's pretty hard to leave -- there's just so much great stuff in there! It doesn't matter if you're looking for sophisticated gaming accessories, or if you're into model trains, planes or automobiles, or maybe just looking for an irreverent bumper sticker; you can spend hours and hours in this store. Good thing I managed to get Pat away from the window, we were actually downtown to meet our friend Joe for dinner at Poor Richard's!

Bumper sticker battle
Today I made a quick trip to the grocery store before going to my studio, and this is what I encountered in the parking lot: a clash of ideologies. This little vignette pretty much sums up Colorado Springs, if not our entire nation. And I thought the election was over. Silly me. We have a reputation of being very conservative here, but in fact both sides of the coin are well represented in this city. Unfortunately it can be very divisive, which wears me out sometimes because nothing ever seems to get done. Interestingly, the west side and downtown (where I live and work) are generally of one political persuasion, while the east and north sides are almost uniformly the opposite -- only the south side seems to be mixed. I wonder if other cities are so sharply delineated geographically when it comes to politics.

More than just transportation
I always think it's interesting when people use their automobile as a blatant form of self-expression. This particular car was stopped in front of me last Friday, waiting for the light to change at Nevada and Uintah. He had so many bumper stickers that I had to take a picture! Obviously this guy really loves Jesus. A lot.
Sorry for being away from the blog for the last two weeks. I've been consumed by work, and even though I've faithfully been taking pictures for the blog, I haven't had the luxury of time to post them! My blog's first birthday is tomorrow so I'd better get back on track! :o) Thanks for reading!
