Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

June 2023 Theme Day: Smile

The first of the month is Theme Day for City Daily Photo bloggers, and this month the theme is smile. Rather handily for me, my friend Jennifer's purse the other day was a perfect subject for the theme. Cute!

Sunday Style!

If this young woman looks familiar, it's because she was last week's Sunday Style subject too! That's a first -- I never have the same person for two weeks running. She's a barista at Starbucks. Last week I featured her because she was wearing mismatched eyeliner; red on one eye and blue on the other. This week I'm featuring her because she went whole hog and wore quite artistic mismatched full eye makeup, and I always appreciate anyone who dares to be different! She did a good job of it, too. I remember doing the exact same mismatched eye makeup thing in the early/mid 1980s, sans rhinestones. I suppose most fashion trends end up getting recycled at one point or another. Anyway, I thought she looked cute and definitely worthy of being on the blog again.

Sunday Style!

I rarely post my professional work on this blog, but this particular photo shoot featured some great clothes and styling so I figured I should share! I love this awesome boutique, Safron, in Old Colorado City, and this is the second shoot I've done for them. They have beautiful clothes and accessories. If you're in Colorado Springs, I highly recommend you go and check them out! Oh and you can see more images from this photo shoot HERE. Enjoy!

Sunday Style!

As promised, a few fabulous vintage frocks that I spied at the Denver Modernism Show last month. Sigh. I wish I could have bought all of them!
The booth that featured the groovy green dress in the top two photos is apparently a wardrobe supplier to "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel", which is one of my favorite shows. Swoon! Those of us who love 1950s fashion are obsessed with that show. There's even a Facebook group for people who endeavor to sew some of the fashions sported by Mrs. Maisel.
I was pleasantly surprised to run into this Alfred Shaheen dress. It was so cool! Among vintage clothing and fabric collectors, Shaheen is like the Holy Grail of sorts. (If you're curious, you can read more about him HERE.) Of course this dress was pretty expensive so I couldn't buy it, but it was great to see a Shaheen up close and personal.

I caught these two strolling down Tejon Street yesterday. It's hard to see in this picture but she's wearing very high heels. I love wearing heels too (come on, I'm half Filipino, it's in my DNA!), but I wouldn't wear such towering ones to work -- I'd be in too much pain by the end of the day! Practicality aside, I have to admit she looks striking. And very tall.

I was intrigued by this couple because of the old fashioned way she held his arm as they strolled down Tejon Street. It's almost as if he should be wearing a suit and a fedora, and she should be in a wasp-waisted dress and a pair of gloves, with a smart chapeau to top it all off.

Sunday Style!

Here are the last of my photos from the Christian Dior exhibition at the Denver Art Museum. You have until March 3rd to see this fabulous show. I highly recommend seeing it in person!
An original 1947 sketch by M. Dior.
I showed you the back of this dress a couple of Sundays ago. I think it's so gorgeous, the front of it deserves to be seen too.
I'll end this series with this fantastic, mod 1960s shoe. Hope you enjoyed all my Dior photos!

Sunday Style!

I actually went back to the Denver Art Museum on Monday to see the Christian Dior show a second time! This time I went with my brother. Also, this time I wasn't so lazy and used an actual camera to take pictures, instead of a cell phone. So all the photos that I was originally going to use for this post were vastly improved upon simply by using a better piece of equipment -- hopefully you'll be better able to see the beautiful details of these incredible frocks. I'll finish up with my Dior pictures next week!
This confection is absolutely my favorite garment in the entire show. I am obsessed with fashions of the 1920s through the mid-1960s, but I also love modern design, of course. This one was created during Raf Simons' 2012-2015 tenure as the creative director of the Christian Dior label. It's exquisite.
The new creative director for Dior is a woman, Maria Grazia Chiuri. This ethereal, modern gown and the following three garments are some of her work. As you can see, she's taken the label in a less girly, more edgy direction.
The last room in the exhibit was the most breathtaking and contained the biggest variety of styles. Some amazing stuff!
A swing coat featuring the Eiffel Tower, entirely of fur! You know I don't approve of fur at all, but I have to admit that this is pretty damn fabulous.

Sunday Style!

My first style post of 2019! I have blogged images from the Christian Dior exhibition at the Denver Art Museum for the last two or three Sundays, and looking over the many that I still have left to show you, I realized that had better step up my game and post more at a time, otherwise you'll be looking at Christian Dior frocks until summer! So I decided to post 13 today instead of seven, and at that rate I should have enough pictures to go two more posts with this fabulous exhibition. Enjoy!
This dress is so beautiful in its simplicity. It reminds me of origami.
Look at all the beautiful details and exquisite seamstressing that went into this gown!
The form of this dress is utterly old world and yet incredibly modern all at once.
This ballgown is simply a work of art! It can only be described as breathtaking!
Here's the back of it. What an incredible gown!
