Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Sunday Style!

I rarely post my professional work on this blog, but this particular photo shoot featured some great clothes and styling so I figured I should share! I love this awesome boutique, Safron, in Old Colorado City, and this is the second shoot I've done for them. They have beautiful clothes and accessories. If you're in Colorado Springs, I highly recommend you go and check them out! Oh and you can see more images from this photo shoot HERE. Enjoy!

Sunday Style!

As promised, a sampling of some of the cool, retro-styled humans that I found at the Denver Modernism Show last month. The lady in the photo above was wearing her grandmother's 1960s dress! Isn't it fab? Next week I'll show you some of the outstanding clothes I found but didn't buy.
My awesome friend Michelle, whom you may remember from THIS post. The Denver Modernism Show is her baby. She coordinates it every year and it's a big job!
On the left is Alisa (a.k.a Ms. Retro) and on the right is Debbie, who owns the gorgeous Dodge La Femme that I showed you in THIS post. That vintage camper is also hers. The interior of it can be seen in THIS post.
Another shot of Alisa.
Debbie showing off her beautiful automobile. I love how she dressed to match it.

June 2019 Theme Day: Pink

I didn't participate in Theme Day last month because it just kind of sneaked up on me. This month I was more on top of things! The theme is pink, and what better subject than a boutique called the Pink Cadillac? Normally they even have a big old pink Cadillac parked in front (of course!), but yesterday there were road works going on right outside their front door, so alas I didn't get a shot of the cool car. I did, however, find plenty of other pinkness within! But if you think they only sell petal-hued pretties in there, let me assure you that they have TONS of cute clothes in every color. Oh and they have a ghost, too! If you follow them on Instagram, they post security videos periodically that show the front door opening mysteriously on its own!

For more Theme Day pictures from bloggers all over the world, click HERE. Have a great weekend!

Sunday Style!

Do these two look familiar? That's because I featured them in last week's Sunday Style too! That photo was taken at the Grand Canyon, and these were taken at the car show at Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend. They were with a larger group of friends, all Japanese, who looked absolutely incredible every minute of every day of the event. More next week!

Car and Motorcycle Show (Part 6)

I really like the Indian at the top of this post. It looks old and perfectly restored, but it's actually brand new bike styled to look authentically retro. This must be what an Indian must have looked like coming off the showroom floor in the 1940s. So beautiful! More cool bikes below, and I'll finish up with this series tomorrow.
This 1957 Triumph has such a great history! The owner, who bought it new, did some modifying and raced it at Bonneville in 1960, setting two land speed records. He owned it until his death in 2007. On loan to a family friend, the bike made a triumphant return to Bonneville in 2016, 2017 and 2018, setting three more records. It's so great that this old bike is still being ridden in the spirit of its original owner's passion for racing.
Here are some pictures of the bike with its first owner, Danny, and some of the awards he won.
This sign explains its history.

Sunday Style!

Sorry to be posting so late at night lately! Today was a lazy day and more than anything I needed a day off, so I've avoided the computer until now. Here's a glamorous pair of ladies that attended the same wedding as the gentleman I featured in last weekend's Sunday Style. On the left is Nicole, and on the right is Fifi, and they were the hair and makeup team (primarily Fifi, whom you can find HERE) for the bride. I thought they looked fabulous, so I begged for a picture. What a gorgeous duo!

Sunday Style!

Here's Heidi, a massage therapist at the wellness clinic where I go once a month for a massage and adjustment. While the others there tend to dress in utilitarian black pants and polo shirts, Heidi always stands out in her colorful, stylish ensembles. The other day I was there and I had to ask her to pose for me because I love that dress, it looks great on her! (Better yet, she told me it was a steal at Steinmart.) I've seen her wear those red shoes before and I wish I had a pair. And isn't her jewelry great? She really puts a lot of effort into her appearance and it shows!

Sunday Style!

Usually I post a person for Sunday Style, but occasionally I post a car. Look at this one! It looks straight out of the 1960s, but it's actually a 1991 Nissan Figaro, a retro-styled automobile that was actually only available in Japan for a couple of years. A mere 20,073 were produced. We saw this one at the Denver Modernism Show (see yesterday's post) and, even though technically it's not an "old" car like the other ones in the show, it won a prize. I fell madly in love with it! (And I don't even like pink!) I got curious enough to check E-Bay Motors, and found that you can pick one up for fairly cheap. Wouldn't you love to have one? I'm so tempted!

Sunday Style!

More well dressed New Yorkers! Some of these were shot from above street level looking down through a window at the MoMA, and others were taken in the lobby.

Sunday Style!

My first post featuring stylish people out and about in New York! Above is the first one I took, on our way to the MoMA. You can't tell from the picture, but there's a tiny tattoo behind his ear that reads HIP. There are exceptionally well dressed and interesting looking people everywhere you turn in NYC. I did my best to capture as many as I could (though unfortunately many of them were necessarily photographed from behind, so you can't quite appreciate how great they looked). More next week!
This woman is carrying an Issey Miyake "Bao Bao" handbag.
This shapeless denim frock would look tragic on most anyone else, but it looks cool on her. She wears it with attitude.

Sunday Style!

I did some engagement portraits for a very stylish couple yesterday, and the bride wore these beautiful Louboutin "Decollette 554" shoes for some of the pictures. These perfectly proportioned jet black pumps with their familiar crimson soles have become a modern day classic. They do wonders for your legs! I would dearly love a pair but I will have to save my pennies first, since they run about $675. But still, a girl can dream.

Sunday Style!

Today's subject is my beautiful mom, Aurora! She's always been the most well dressed woman I know. At nearly 82, she takes just as much care now with her appearance as ever. You just never see her looking sloppy. NEVER. On Tuesday she treated me to lunch at Marigold for my birthday, and I liked her Christmas sweater so much that I asked her if I could photograph her for the blog. My mom has a great sense of humor and is aware, of course, that Christmas cats on a sweater are a little bit corny -- she takes a tongue in cheek (and devil may care) attitude to it all, which I love. And notice her beautiful white hair! Alas, my hair will probably never be totally white like hers. It's gorgeous!

By the way, Marigold at Christmastime seems to be a tradition with beautiful older ladies in holiday-themed sweaters. Every time I've ever been there in December, it's like a sparkly, festive parade! You should go and take in all the holiday joy (and some delicious desserts while you're there too!).

Sunday Style!

I love this! My client Rachel had the biggest, BIGGEST Barbarella beehive the other day! Go big or go home! When she showed up for her shoot with this crazy hair, I couldn't not take a picture or two for the blog.

I know what you're thinking: does Rachel go around all the time with
Tammy Wynette sized hair? Of course not! Let me explain: I do a lot of boudoir photography, and many of my clients see it as a chance to step out of their usual day to day persona and take things up a few notches. True, for some, just stepping in front of my camera in their underwear is taking things up a few notches (totally understandable), while others really let their inner vamp come out to play. Rachel had fun with her campy, vampy look-for-a-day. In fact she loves experimenting with style, which is why it's always a treat working with her. Every time I see her, she looks different! (HERE is your proof.) Thanks for being on the blog again, Rachel! You're a superstar!

And on a personal note: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my big brother Chuck!!! Love you!

Sunday Style!

I think punk shows are the best for people watching. I was hanging around near the merch table after the X show in Denver a month ago when I saw this young girl sitting on the floor. The ratty old Chucks caught my eye, so I asked for a picture. I've certainly gone through a few pairs of those in my time. Some things will never go out of style, like X and Chucks. 😊

Sunday Style!

I'm getting this post online a little late today! Normally I avoid doing much of anything on Sundays, but today I had a portrait session (which worked out really well, since the sun came out just in time after a very gloomy morning and early afternoon) -- hence the late hour of this post. Anyway, here's my friend Lauren, who's been featured on the blog a couple of times before because she's always so chic! She treated me to lunch the other day and I loved what she was wearing, down to the cool metallic pedicure, so I coaxed her into posting for a couple of pictures. Thanks Lauren! As always, you look gorgeous!
Nice leather jacket!

While every other woman in the universe is sporting the same waist long, wavy locks, Lauren is rocking a David Bowie-esque pompadour. The better to show off her unique drop earrings!

Love the metallic pedicure and the comfortable, chic sandals!

Red #1

This week I'll be blogging pictures that showcase my favorite color, starting with this confident, sexy woman in her bright red sweater and patterned leggings. Photo taken on April 9, 2017, on Tejon Street.

Sunday Style!

Rarely do my professional photos make it onto this blog, but I just had to share the gorgeous shoes that my July 22nd bride and groom wore. Hers are sky high Kate Spades, and you can't tell from this photo but the tongues of his Warfield & Grand wingtips are white. So stylish! He also wore socks with wolves on them, in homage to an inside joke between them. Love it!
