Welcome to Colorado Springs Daily Photo!

Hi, I'm Tamera, a professional wedding, portrait and boudoir photographer in Colorado Springs. But this blog isn't about my professional work; no, it's a daily love note to my beautiful city, where I've lived for most of my life. I love it here and I hope you enjoy seeing Colorado Springs through my eyes and lens!

Destination Vertical

I noticed this sporty looking young woman and her friend crossing Bijou the other day and couldn't figure out why she was carrying a length of rope over her shoulder. It wasn't until I got home that I realized she was probably headed to the climbing gym up the street. I've never tried rock climbing, have you? I understand it's pretty safe in a controlled environment at least, but I'm afraid of heights. That sport definitely isn't for me!

What You See Is What You Get

Driving west on Pikes Peak Avenue will reward you with a great view of, well, Pikes Peak. Duh.

Protestors Protesting

I was driving through downtown yesterday when I passed this group of protestors at City Hall, so I continued around the block to find a parking spot so I could grab a picture. They were demonstrating against the Israel-Palestinian conflict, and unfortunately in the time it too me to circle the block, they had stopped protesting and were preparing to march. I didn't have time to join them so this picture will have to do.

Sunday Style!

Cute couple! That mustard color is really having a moment these days. I like how she matched her shirt to the shoes. And his sweater matches his shoes and hat. This really is just a study in blue and yellow, isn't it? I wonder if it was intentional.

Breathtaking

I will never, ever get tired of this view. Lucky me for getting to look at it every day. 💙

Texture

We had a little bit of snow overnight, resulting in about an inch of accumulation. Late in the afternoon this particular spot in our backyard sparkled like diamonds in a shaft of sunlight. So pretty. Snow has actually got a lot of texture, if you take the time to look closely.

White on White

I love Pikes Peak in all her moods, but especially when she's cloaked in snow. Today was quite mild and pleasant although you'd never know it from this picture. The clouds descended over the snowy summit and hung there all day.

A Classic

I spotted this beautiful car cruising east on Boulder Street on Sunday. I can't tell what make or model it is, but I'm assuming it's late 1930s to early 1940s, and boy is it ever a beaut. Somebody put some love, time and money into it for sure!

Nothing in Particular

Just a humdrum street view for you today. This is the corner of Tejon and Colorado, looking southeast.

Sunday Style!

Pat and I popped into Poor Richard's Bookstore this afternoon, where I found this chic young woman manning (or woman-ning) the cash register. She told me her name was Kate and then she struck a cute pose for me. Thanks for the picture, Kate!

Missing the Point

No new material today, so here's a shot of some lucky horses who have a great view of Cathedral Park, if they've ever noticed! This was taken on July 19, 2020. For a wider view of what they are completely ignoring, check out THIS blog post.

An Alternate Take

Today was cold and windy, which didn't exactly inspire me to venture out with a camera in my hands, so here's a long exposure of Helen Hunt Falls from June 16 of 2022. I posted a color version (with a wider view showing the top of the falls) on that day, but I think I prefer this monochrome take on it even more.

Speaking of Waterfowl

Here is a cute pair of mallards that I spotted at Nancy Lewis Park on June 7th of last year, a much warmer day indeed.

On  last cell phone capture from the Broadmoor last Friday. It's been so cold, I've pretty much hunkered down at home since then and haven't really been venturing out with a camera. How do those ducks, swans and geese manage to stay warm while sitting on the ice like that? I always marvel at it.

Cold, So Cold

The last few days have been entirely in the single digits, even dipping into negative temperatures. Today it never got above -1° F (-18° C). Brr! Here's a photo taken in my front yard on August 1st of last year, to remind us that soon enough it'll be nice and warm again. Apparently it was about 85° F that day, if the internet is to be believed. It's winter, it's supposed to be cold, but chin up, fellow Coloradoans! This too shall pass!

Sunday Style!

This elegant and beautifully dressed wedding guest caught my eye on Friday, and his friends laughed when they heard me exclaim about his fantastic outfit. "Oh, he always looks this good!" they said. That coat! That hair! Those shoes! He told me that his name is Maurice and he's originally from Benin. Thanks for the photo, Maurice, every guy should strive to look as natty as you!

Be More at the B-Moor

A very frigid moment at the Broadmoor yesterday.

12 January 2024

Untitled

I was at the Broadmoor all day long, not to shoot a wedding myself but to help out a friend who was shooting a (lovely) wedding. I was just there to assist with the lighting and carrying things, so I didn't bring a camera. I  have to say it was kind of nice just being the wedding sherpa for a day, I didn't have to take any pictures at all and I had a few quiet moments that allowed me to snap off a few with my cell phone. Here's a cool bison themed fountain in the West Tower.

Posse

It's too cold to go outside and sling a camera this week (as I type this, it's 6° F), so here's a little family of elk taken in Rocky Mountain National Park on March 7, 2020.

Yellow

A peek at the interior of Poor Richard's Feed and Read, a favorite haunt of mine since my college days. I like the cheery yellow mural they've been sporting lately.

The View from the Top

The upper parking lot of the downtown library, that is. You can catch this loveliness while you're dropping off your books!

Sunday Style!

How about a hot pink fanny pack for V-Day? This one was in the shop window of Colorado Co-Op. I have mixed feelings about both the color pink and about fanny packs, but I have to admit the things are handy and functional. Why not make 'em stylish, too, right?

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

Nice day indeed for a walk in Monument Valley Park. This was taken on New Year's Day.

Cold Weather Blues

Here's a last look at frozen Monument Lake last weekend. Cold weather doesn't actually bring me down, for the record! Our blue Colorado sky is extra beautiful when contrasted with pure white snow, so let's make it all about that.

January 2024 Theme Day: Photo of the Year

Happy New Year! The first of every month is Theme Day for City Daily Photo bloggers, and January's theme is always photo of the year. Since I managed to blog every single day of 2023, I had lots to choose from. I chose this image taken on October 19th not because it's the strongest picture I took last year, but rather for its nice mood.

Doing a blog post every single day is hard and most years I don't manage it, so I will pat myself on the back for pulling it off in 2023, even though many of the pictures that I shared came from my archives.
